Our Building & Project Consultancy department recently arranged for the restoration of period features to a property in the picturesque village of Old Warden, Bedfordshire.

The property was constructed in the 19th century and is Grade II listed with distinctive leaded windows that are important to the special nature of the listed building. The ability to adapt or change the windows was very limited without harming the special character of the building.

Prior to repair of the leaded casements, the windows at the property were in quite poor condition, most did not function properly, and a number had been temporarily repaired making them unusable.

Given their prior experience and expert knowledge of traditional building techniques, our Building & Project Consultancy department reached out to their extensive list of contacts and obtained quotes from specialists for the overhauling and repair of the leaded window casements. A specialist was appointed and the windows were removed from the property and refurbished, before being returned and refitted.

The works have been successfully completed on time and within budget by tradespeople with traditional heritage skills.

The Carrington Arms is a family run traditional English inn in Moulsoe near Milton Keynes. Over the years, their award-winning restaurant has developed a great reputation for good food serving locally sourced ingredients.

Due to their continuing success, their restaurant had been investigating how to expand to meet growing demand. Our Architecture & Building Surveying department was pleased to advise at the feasibility stage and develop sketches for a new garden room.

The existing property is from the early 19th Century incorporating some wonderful architectural details. It has a wonderful history and it was important for the new extension to be designed sympathetically to respect the historic character.

The new extension comprises large open plan, modern glazed areas together with an innovative louvred roof which can be opened in the warmer weather. We prepared all the necessary drawings to obtain planning and listed building consents together with detailed working drawings to obtain building regulations consent.

The finished results are stunning and we hope the business continues to thrive. You can book your table on their website https://www.thecarringtonarms.co.uk/

Robinson & Hall’s Architecture & Building Surveying department has been thrilled to assist Oakley Pre-School with its new expansion in the form of two new purpose-built classrooms.

We have been heavily involved in the project from start to finish, including planning, design and project management. The new, high quality building was created off-site in Lincolnshire and delivered to the site in Oakley. Arriving in pre-formed sections, it was then bolted together and up in a day! Watch the action for yourself below:

The Pre-School has been running in the village for over 50 years and has a fantastic history supporting generations of families over many decades. The new building means they can offer space for up to 40 children.

Please contact Oakley Pre-School direct for further details of spaces available. Their website can be found here.
